Terms & Conditions
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using ArcHive (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and ArcHive ("we," "our," or "us"). Your continued use of the App after any changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and use your data.
2. Description of Service
ArcHive is a private social accountability platform that allows users to:
- Create and join private, invite-only communities called "Hives"
- Set shared goals within those Hives
- Post daily photo or video proof of progress ("Check-ins")
- View a private feed of their Hive members' check-ins
- Track personal streaks, progress, and consistency
- Access Buzz, our AI-powered accountability companion
- View a private leaderboard ranked on effort and consistency
ArcHive is designed for personal accountability and shared goal-tracking. It is not a general social media platform, marketplace, or messaging service. All Hives are private and invite-only during the beta period.
3. Beta Program
You are accessing ArcHive during its beta phase. This means:
- The App is in active development and may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete features
- Features may be added, changed, or removed without prior notice
- We may experience downtime or data loss during the beta period
- Your account and data may be reset between beta versions in limited circumstances
- Beta access is granted by invitation only and may be revoked at our discretion
We value your feedback. As a beta user, your experience helps shape the final product. If you encounter issues or have suggestions, please contact us at the address in Section 16.
We make no guarantees regarding service availability, data persistence, or feature continuity during the beta period. By participating, you acknowledge and accept these limitations.
4. Eligibility
To use ArcHive, you must:
- Be at least 13 years of age
- Have received a valid invitation to join the beta program
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction
- Not be prohibited from using the App under applicable law
If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, you represent that you have obtained the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use the App. We reserve the right to request verification of age or parental consent.
ArcHive is currently available to users in jurisdictions where we are legally permitted to operate. We make no representation that the App is appropriate or available in all locations.
5. Account Registration
Creating an Account
You must create an account to use ArcHive. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration. You are responsible for keeping your account information up to date.
Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:
- Use a strong, unique password for your account
- Notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized access to your account
- Never share your account credentials with another person
- Not create more than one account per person
One Account Per Person
Each person may maintain only one ArcHive account. Creating duplicate accounts is a violation of these Terms and may result in termination of all associated accounts.
6. User Content
Your Ownership
You retain ownership of all photos, videos, captions, and other content you submit to ArcHive ("User Content"). We do not claim ownership of your content.
License to ArcHive
By posting User Content to ArcHive, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of operating the App and delivering the service to you and your Hive members. This license ends when you delete your content or account, subject to reasonable technical processing times.
Your Responsibilities
You are solely responsible for the content you post. By posting User Content, you represent and warrant that:
- You own the content or have all necessary rights to share it
- Your content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights
- Your content does not violate any applicable law or regulation
- Your content complies with our Community Standards in Section 7
Content Visibility
Content you post in a Hive is visible only to members of that Hive. We do not make your content public. See Section 8 for more detail on Hive privacy.
7. Community Standards
ArcHive is built on accountability and mutual support. You agree not to post, share, or transmit content that:
- Is illegal, abusive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or discriminatory
- Contains nudity, sexual content, or graphic violence
- Promotes eating disorders, self-harm, or dangerous behaviors
- Includes personal information about another person without their consent
- Constitutes spam, phishing, or commercial solicitation
- Infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party
- Impersonates any person or entity
- Contains malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Violates the privacy or dignity of any person
You also agree not to:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or circumvent any part of the App
- Use the App for any commercial purpose without our written consent
- Interfere with the App's infrastructure or other users' experience
- Post false or misleading proof of progress
We reserve the right to remove content and/or suspend accounts that violate these standards, at our sole discretion, without prior notice.
8. Hives & Privacy
Hives are private, invite-only communities. The following rules apply to all Hives during the beta:
- Only users with a valid invite code can join a Hive
- Hive content — posts, member lists, and activity — is visible only to Hive members
- A user's profile is visible only to other users in a shared Hive
- There are no public profiles and no global discovery features in the beta
You are responsible for sharing your Hive invite code only with people you trust. If you share your code publicly, you are responsible for any users who join using it.
By joining a Hive, you consent to other Hive members seeing your posts, streaks, and activity within that Hive. This is a core part of how ArcHive works — shared accountability requires shared visibility within your private group.
9. Buzz AI Agent
ArcHive includes Buzz, an AI-powered accountability companion powered by the Anthropic Claude API. By using Buzz, you acknowledge and agree that:
AI Limitations
- Buzz is an AI assistant and is not a licensed therapist, coach, medical professional, or financial advisor
- Buzz's responses are generated by a third-party AI model and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate
- Recommendations made by Buzz (including places, resources, or activities) are suggestions only and should be independently verified
- You should not rely on Buzz for any decisions involving your health, safety, finances, or legal rights
Conversation Data
- Your Buzz conversations are stored to maintain context between sessions
- Conversation history may be sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate responses
- Your Buzz conversations are private and not visible to other Hive members or ArcHive staff except where required by law
- See our Privacy Policy for full details on how AI conversation data is handled
Usage Limits
Buzz interactions are limited to 20 messages per user per day during the beta to ensure service quality. These limits may change as the product develops.
10. Intellectual Property
All elements of ArcHive — including the App design, logo, brand name, visual identity, code, and features — are the intellectual property of ArcHive and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of any part of the App or its content without our prior written consent.
The ArcHive name, logo (the minimal bee mark), and the Buzz name are trademarks of ArcHive. You may not use them without our prior written permission.
11. Disclaimers
ArcHive is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of any content in the App
We do not warrant that any defects will be corrected or that the App is free of viruses or other harmful components. The beta nature of the App means instability and data issues are possible.
We are not responsible for the actions or content of other users in your Hives. Accountability within a Hive is a social feature, and we cannot guarantee the honesty or authenticity of any user's posted content.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ArcHive and its founders, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data, content, or streaks
- Loss of access to your account or Hive
- Actions taken by other users
- Reliance on Buzz AI recommendations
- Technical failures during the beta period
In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you have paid us in the six months preceding the claim, or $100 (USD), whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on liability, so this limitation may not apply to you.
13. Termination
Termination by You
You may delete your account at any time through the App's settings. Deleting your account will remove your profile and personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Your posts within Hives may be anonymized rather than deleted to preserve the integrity of other members' shared arc history, unless you request full deletion.
Termination by ArcHive
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in behavior that harms other users or the App, or for any other reason at our sole discretion during the beta period.
Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to access the App immediately ceases. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — shall survive.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Notify you via the App or email for material changes
Your continued use of ArcHive after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with a change, you must stop using the App and delete your account.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of ArcHive shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against ArcHive.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or other equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction where necessary to protect intellectual property or confidential information.
16. Contact
If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us.
